Born in Altrincham in 1944 and moved to Dorset at age of 9. Left Wimborne Grammar school in 1963 to read chemistry at Imperial College, London. After graduating, worked in materials research for Morgan Crucible Group and then G.E.C. Joined Milk Marketing Board Head Office at Thames Ditton in 1975 as Management Training Officer, becoming Head of Personnel in 1981. Appointed Director of Personnel & Management Services for City of London Corporation in 1993, leaving in 2005 to set up own management consultancy. Carried out assignments in RNID, Schlumberger Oilfield Services, London Development Agency and Defra where I worked fulltime for 18 months. Retired in 2012 when I joined the Rotary Club of Surbiton and soon became Treasurer.

Barbara is a Tolworth resident, now retired, who worked for many years in Surrey, Kingston and neighbouring boroughs helping young people with career plans and getting into employment or education. Barbara is a trustee of and frequent volunteer for the Cornerhouse Community Arts Centre in Tolworth and has been a volunteer for  the Red Cross Home from Hospital service and Fire Emergency Support Service.  Being a secretary is a new role and she is still learning!
